The series will also help you evaluate and compare various farm enterprises. Your goals might range from making money to saving money to reducing losses to enriching family life to developing a personal hobby. If you have farming fever, the course will help you sort out personal and/or family goals and reasons for wanting to farm. Registration is limited and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The fee covers printed materials, one Pennsylvania State University soil testing kit, demonstration expenses, field trip expenses and refreshments. The registration fee is $30 per person or $35 per couple (two people from the same household). Subjects will include: soil basics, poultry and eggs, rabbits, goats, marketing and financial aspects, woodlot management, Christmas trees, beekeeping and honey, grapes and wine, subscription agriculture, preserving and storing food, vegetables, fruit, pesticide use, beef, sheep and swine. 23 through April 12 at the Lehigh County Agricultural Center, Room 108, Dorney Park Road, South Whitehall Township. All sessions except the April 15 field trip will be at 7 p.m. If you have land, extra time and a special interest in at least one agricultural enterprise, you may want to participate in “Living on a Few Acres,” a series being offered by the Lehigh County Cooperative Extension.
